Recovery / Tow Points

Hi All

I have a 2005 KJ Limited CRD and am in Australia and am a first time poster to this forum.

I would like some advice on front recovery points - I go offroading about once per month for recreation and like all of us occasionally come to grief and require a tow out of trouble.

My question is, does the tie down point on the front of the KJ provide a good place to snatch the vehicle out or do I need to put on other tow points???

The rear is ok as I have a towbar installed (I think the US refers to these as a hitch??) and am happy with this as a recovery point.

Just that no one can give me a straight answer - I have asked our local ARB dealer and they seem adament that I need to spend up to $600 on a number of alterations to the front to provide a tow point - oh - I do not want to put a front bull bar on as I love the natural looks of the KJ!!

Your advice is appreciated.

Gino

they also make a front "hitch" / tow bar for the liberty. It allowas you to keep the stock look and is about $150 American. Do a search on the web.

I have the front hitch and a D-shackle in the receiver. It works great, but you have to give up the front hooks because the hitch takes those mounting holes.

you might have to get a front hitch specially ordered or direct from the US ( freight will be a killer) as its not something i have seen available locally

try Hammonds in capalabah or if you log on to Ausjeep click the link for wooders garage he imports all kinds of stuff
