problems after engine swap

the engine in my 03 liberty(k engine code) went bad so i got a low mileage pullout 48k miles from an auto recycler. the new engine was from an 04 liberty (k engine code). after the change had lots of trouble getting the engine to start. after some checking around found that the crank position ring is different from the engine we pulled out, the width of the notches are different. what would be the best way to go about fixing this problem, change the cranks out? or get a pcm from an 04 and have it programmed to my 03(noting the change in ring sizes)? one other note the replacement engine is from a 4x4 and mine is 4x2. any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

ok so here is what i have done

we decided to swap the cranks out. put the 03 crank in the 04 engine, it is running and not having trouble getting it to start but now it is missing like crazy. compression test is good, coils good, plugs good, fuel pressure good. does anyone know if the cams in these 2 engines are different also?
