Sorry if this has been posted before, I couldn't find it on a search. Mine is a 2004 Liberty 4X4. Is anybody else having major problems with their power windows? I have had to take my Liberty to the dealer to have the mechanism in the door replaced at least 10 times. Every window has broken at least once. Here's what happens, I roll up the window and just before it gets to the top, it falls back down in the door and won't come up. Luckily I have an extended warranty, but this is going to get expensive when the warranty goes bye bye. Any thoughts?

Shotty window regulators.
Its a common problems for model other than the uber awesome 2002.
Steiger Performance, part number sp13005

I would think your dealer would cover repairs of repairs without a warranty? That has been the case with previous vehicles? Anyway, my '04 has not had any issues (so far... ).

Budke,
That sounds like a great fix, but at almost $100 per window, that's a bit stiff.

$100/window is cheaper than OE regulators.

Thanks for that link to the replacement part. My left rear window has gone out twice now. Replaced it once with a mechanism I bought off ebay for $120, but it broke again after about a year. Window is currently being held up with a pair of channel locks, but I just bought one of these and hopefully will have it next week.

Got the same problem w/ my 03 4x2 Sport. Took it to the body shop and guy just cut the power & jammed the window shut. Don't use rear windows anyways. Ain't gonna spend $200 to fix something that's gonna break again. Now I got my drivers aide doing the same thing. Guess what I'm gonna do.

I replace both my rear windows twice each. The third time they broke I just put a screw in the track and now they are stuck up. It's been about a year and I saved my $200.

Pal, I prefer to pay $96 for a long term fix than $300 for an entire new window regulator that is going to break again. Replacing the cheap broken plastic bracket with a steel one should fix the problem once and for all. I ordered mine to fix it because I don't want to jam the window and make it unoperable, that's so cheap... and it also affect negatively the resale price of my Liberty!!
And for Budke, thanks for the info, you saved me hundreds of dollars!!!

Indeed. I was kinda miffed by the price of the Steiger part at first, but having purchased one and knowing how it is installed/built makes me confident it is a 100% permanent fix... aside from the motor going out.
I would definitely recommend forgetting about having the dealer replace it (free or otherwise) and just go with the Steiger part. Might cost you some money and time, but it'll cause a lot less grief later.

Yesterday I installed the Steiger kit, and the results were awesome, the rear window its working like new again!! The key is to follow the included instructions carefully, and the repair kit will solve forever the plastic thingy problem, aside from the motor going out. It took me two hours to make the complete job, with no hurry at all at home (because I'm living in the tropics, I don't have the snow that is causing so much problems at the states!!). Definitely I'm very happy with the results, cheers!!!
