In any case, it sounds like the retaining clip at the bottom of the window is broken.

It's now happened to 3 of the 4 windows on my KJ, so I don't think it's been forced. Also happened to a friends KJ on 2 windows, the two are about the same age.
My guess is there's a bad lot of regulators out there.

Did you just go to the dealership and get the regulator replaced?
If you don't mind, how much did that run you? Or was it still under warranty.
Still haven't gotten ours replaced, just don't open that window.. passenger side rear.

Still under warranty. They replaced the Regulator.
I had a similar problem on my '96 Nissan Sentra (more acceptable, it's a decade older...) on the passenger side front window. Fatigue failure of a plastic component. I fixed it with Dowl Rod and some Zip ties. I don't need that window down.

You have to buy the whole regulator. You can't get just the piece. The repair should be under $250. I believe the new regulator is around $130. Replacing the regulator is pretty easy if you want to do it yourself.

More window issues
Jeep needs to fix their window regulators. This has happened to me five times. I am bumping these threads back to the top so everyone can see how many people this is happening too!

Well you can stop it. This isn't a protest website, it's a technical forum. Every time you bump another of these threads up, it knocks down another thread of someone who legitimately needs help.
If you don't have anything constructive to add, take your grousing elsewhere.

Window regulators failing
Jakked, I do legitimately need help with this problem. So do a lot of other Jeep owners. This is a technical problem. Where do you suggest I take this issue?
I have already filed a complaint with the BBB. I want other Jeep owners to be aware of this problem. What better place than the Jeep forum?

Ok, if Jeep corporate is unresponsive, I would try to find out how many other owners have experienced this problem. I do think this is a good place to do it, but I don't think the best way is keeping 5 threads bumped to the top.
Once you have an idea of who these other people are, I would see if anyone else in the group has had success dealing with Jeep directly, or maybe if anyone has come up with a relatively easy permanent fix.
If none of those options are viable, I would consider legal remedies. Are these problems happening on vehicles under the factory warranty? If not, are the problems happening on vehicles that were already repaired by a Jeep dealership?
You mentioned that you had 5 fixes... since there are only 4 power windows, I have to assume that at least one of those windows was fixed twice. Did the dealership charge you for that second fix, or was it covered by their workmanship warranty?

Thx Jakked. First off, I suppose I am pretty upset and don't need to move every forum about windows to the top. I will stop, sorry.
Yes, my Jeep is under warranty. Only 16,000 miles. 5 window regulators replaced in 3 trips to the dealership. 3 windows, one of them three times already.
The service reps tell me that this is an issue with the climate in AZ. They fix the part but truthfully tell me it will probably break again. I admire their honesty but that doesn't solve my problem. I can't afford to fix a window every 3,000 miles. I have even tried talking to the GM. All they will do is fix it for the period of the warranty. After that I am SOL.
My next step is legal. I am looking into AZ lemon laws and filing a complaint with the AZ Attorney General's Office. I am also looking into a class action lawsuit which is why I am currently researching how many people have experienced this same issue.
Any help/advice is appreciated. I just want this fixed but I am not getting any help from the dealership.

Yes, you might have an action in products liability under a design defect theory. This isn't legal advice, though; you should consult an attorney. If you think you can have a large enough group of plaintiffs, you might be able to get one of the big law firms involved on a contingent basis.
What you won't get is Jeep giving you a new part that has been redesigned to not break, which is unfortunate since that would probably be the best solution. If Jeep corporate admits that it is a faulty design they would probably have to issue a recall which would be major $$$ for them.
A word of advice, next time you go to the dealership, take a small (hidden) voice recorder with you and see if you can get the dealer to repeat what he said to you about it breaking again, etc. I have one that's the size of a chapstick case--it has come in handy.
