poor running 2002 jeep liberty

I am the original owner of a 2002 jeep liberty. automatic transmission. The jeep has 220,000 original miles. Last week it started running poorly. When you take your foot off of the gas, the car dies. Then you have to restart it and keep your foot on the gas to keep it running. It does not sound right(sounds like struggling for air! lol) The check engine light pulled a p0102 error code which pointed at the fuel injector. my mechanic replaced that, it did not help, he replaced the spark plugs, that helped a little.. Now it is showing a multitude of codes. So I took it to a shop and they did a compression test and a leak down test and said that it is a bad intake valve. they say that my options are:
1. used engine (cant find one in the area)
2. rebuilt engine ($3000-$5000) not feasable since this is a car that my 24 year old daughter drived 10 miles to work and back only!
3. pull the top 1/2 of the engine, scope it and have machine work done to fix the heads ($1500-$2000). If there is a burnt valve this will not be an option I am told. And with this many miles- this may not be the option either.
The car still is in great shape (body wise) and is not to be junked yet but I really need to get it working so that I can trade it in or sell it. Please offer your advice. It would be appreciated!
