P0500 - Speedometer Not Working

This is on a friend's 2002 Liberty. Had this code three months ago. The wiring Resistance checked fine from the plug in the floorboard to the connector in the rear diff so I replaced the sensor with one from Advance Auto and zip tied the harness away from the parking brake cable so I wouldn't have the common issue of the wire wearing through. I cleared the code and it's been fine since. The wiring still checks out at 0 Ohms from the connector to the plug in the floorboard. Should these sensors be Mopar? Is there anything else I should check for? Should I replace both sensors (the one on the transmission)? Thanks, fellow Jeepers.

Any help? Should I replace the diff and trans sensors with Mopar? Is there something else I should be looking for?

This is the FSM for a 2006 but they have others. This is a full FSM with wiring diagrams.

The board shortened the link. Try this one.

This opens up a download window and I just tested it.

What had everyone's fix been? I've never seen a speed sensor fail in less than a year before, although this one is aftermarket. I'm thinking that I should just buy a Mopar sensor and try it.
