I have a 2002 gas, automatic, 2WD with a V6 and 100K miles. The outside temperature is around freezing. After the engine warms up, at idle the oil pressure light comes on. The idle is around 600. If I rev it up to around 1K, the light goes out.
I have owned this car since around 40K miles and have changed the oil every 5K miles and used synthetic only. No hard driving, it never uses oil and the only thing that has happened out of the ordinary is that a cat was under the hood when I started it the other day and he got messed up in the drive belt. Everything under the hood looks normal. No loose wires, no leaks. The only reason I mention the cat is because that's the only thing out of the ordinary that has ever happened to the engine, and I thought there might be a sensor you guys would know about that could have gotten messed up. After the cat accident, the next time I got off the freeway and had to stop, the light came on. No strange noises or knocks.
I am traveling and there is no Jeep dealer near by, so I am leary about driving it home.
