offrosding in a Libby

i am i proud owner of a 96 grand cherokee. although it is stock i do offroad quite a bit and am constantly amazed at it's ability. i would like to know what kinda things you people have put your libby's through and how they did. are they holding up the Jeep tradition? pics welcome too. thanks

Chris and I just returned from the Ozarks Jamboree, his bone stock KJ with 225's performed excellent on the moderate trails, he didn't take a single bypass (I don't think the trail guide, Brad, would let him )It had the power and the clearance he needed to get him through the day.

(A stock YJ got strapped three times to his once)

awesome man awesome. i've heard the Liberties were great offroad. would you happen to have any pics of your outting? i'd love to see them. also. what exactly do you mean by 225's? i'm not familiar with that.

Do you know if the Ozark Jamboree was in the same place as Camp Jeep is going to be? If it was a great time with the Liberty, I hope so. Already have my reservations and can't wait to go off-roading in it. Camp Jeep is in the Ozarks near Branson, MO.

I don't think that Camp Jeep is in the same location as the jamboree. (The Jeep Jamboree was at Sayersbrook Bison ranch outside of Potasi)

I was reffering to tire size with the 225's comment (approx a 28-29in tire?)

very nice. i like what i see. you had plenty of clearance for what you were doing on those 225. i wish i coulda been there. that's my kinda trail.

He came away with some minor scratches, and a little ding onthe underside of his rocker panel. (a little disturbing for him as he only made 3 payments so far ) I do know he is looking at a 2" lift and possibly 30-31 in tires. I hope he gets it done soon I want to see what it can do then.

It seems that the school of thought from dealers and DC is that you will not void your warranty if you stay with a 2" lift or smaller and increase tires sizes no more than two sizes. That would allow for 255/70/16 which are 30.3" OD. I have questioned dealers in my area ( Texas ) and Rustys OffRoad also confirmed that is what he heard from DC itself. A 2" lift should clear 255/70/16s - minor rubbing!

that's great guys. i was thinking about a two incher lift myself. i'll have to see what kinda wheels i can fit under there but from what i've heard 31" work fine. i'm also in the market for a brushgaurd, some skid plates. (i need those, i run some trails with huge ruts and you can just hear the undercarriage dragging along, haha) anyway, i better get some money first, i'll inform you when upgrades are on the way. there will be a smile (covered with mud of course) on that day.
