New Liberty CRD, First Jeep

This is my first post and my first Jeep. I traded off my 03 RAM QC 4x4 4.7l for a new Jeep Limited CRD. Just got sick of pumping gas into my truck and to be honest that 4.7 v8 just did have any guts. Struggled to pull my 3000# boat and just stuggled all the time. This is my first diesel and I have to say for what I do its more useful than a gasser. I do a lot of towing and off roading so torque is my friend. The big problem with the RAM is you dont get the useful torque until 4000rpm and who runs that hot? Whereas the CRD is usually in the max torque band just driving along.

After test driving the CRD, I couldnt believe how much more power it had over my Ram and gets at least 10mpg more! I'll bet the CRD will get better gas mileage pulling my boat than my RAM did just driving down the hiway all by its self.

So far I am impressed the CRD and I think DCX hit a home run with the diesel. Now if they would put a diesel in the the Dakota, I'd probably be trading in again.

Had the dealer do all the flashes before I picked it up, so hopefully wont run into any of those little nagging issues some people have mentioned.

I traded an '04 ram 1500 4x4 QC for my Jeep. Now I'm getting TWICE the fuel economy...literally. And it tows my 4,000 lb. trailer better than the 4.7L V8 the ram had too! I am loving it.

Macd; I agree on a diesel Dakota I think that would be a great combination and DC could sell as many as they could make.

Thanks,

I cant say enough about the power of the CRD. I am impressed. This motor hauls a$$! I thought I'd regret getting rid of my truck, but no regrets at all. I am going to get a trailer to haul stuff so I wont miss it a bit. The other nice this is the Liberty is just the right size and you can off road better than the Ram because it allows you get in and out of tight spots easier. Heck, I might buy another CRD for my wife.

Auto tranny

The transmission is adaptive. So try and be fairly repetitive in your normal driving style. After a few hundred miles the transmission will get nice and smooth and your mpg will improve.

This is sooo true. My Tranny used to be a head banger sometimes between 1st and 2nd now after 2000 miles or so its like velvet. It may also be due to the PCM re flash. Also I noticed that brake moan in the morning is TOTALLY gone now, it must be a "brake in thing".
