MSRP on the new CRD?

Like the title says, does anyone know the base price for the new CRD coming out? I've looked around the internet, but haven't found anything.

TIA.

I had a salesman at the Jeep Warehouse tell me that DC is going to try and keep the CRD's within $1500 of a V6. Only time will tell.

Well that's not bad at all. I was thinking like $5000 price increase.

Well worth the extra money when you get up to 480 miles on a tank.

I was told 2 weeks ago by the Jeepwarehouse.com salesman to expect a 1K engine markup option.... only time will tell

My wife is buying on AS SOON AS they hit the streets, so I will let ya'll know.

Nice man... that's not a bad price at all. Well worth the money, in my opinion.

Up to $1800 more than the 3.7L with the auto. $1800 is the maximum it could be (based on UK pricing), but DC said they'd subsidize some of the price for the US, so it could be somewhat less, but we won't know till it's on the lot.

Not a bad price considering it's a diesel and has a 5-speed auto attached to it. The auto will be nice.... it's the same one the GC will be using with the 5.7 HEMI.

I kind of like the thought of a diesel. I'm an XJ owner and like the performance of solid front axle. I've always been an admirer of the KJ, though. The diesel sounds great with it's better towing capacity and fuel economy (28 mpg on the highway).

The Renegade....

I'm sold on the CRD, and will gladly pay the price. But I'm really ticked that it's not being offered in the Renegade.

Call Jeep and complain. While I couldn't get the lady to run out to the line and change things for me, they do log suggestions and complaints. Jeep is driven by those who drive Jeeps.

I'll be honest with you... I don't care that much that it's not offered in the Renegade. I'd probably get the most watered-down version of the CRD available (I'm not one that cares about luxury). A lot of the stuff on the Renegade would get replaced, taken off, or ruined, by me anyways. The step rails would come off for some real rock rails. Tires and wheels would come next. I'd get my own aftermarket lighting... Etc.

But I see where you are coming from. The Renegade is supposed to be the cream of the crop, and this new CRD definately sounds like a badass engine.

I could do without anything on the Renegade and add it myself - except the grill and hood. It really is a better looking Liberty.

Your point is well taken, though, and I've added it to my options. Providing, of course, the Mrs. shoots down the Rubicon...

Whew... shoot for that Rubi, man. I'd like to have a Rubi but the fuel economy is right on that CRD.

The added amount for the engine would pay for itself in no time at all just from the coin saved on fuel! Would be nice to see them offer it in the TJ as well...god knows the TJ needs help on mileage as much as the KJ does.

You are right. If a TJ came with a CRD, I'd go for that over a Liberty (no offense). I'd love for the CRD in a super capable vehicle.

That torque spec. is awesome!

From what I have heard about Jeeps intention for the CRD KJ in the US is to try to steal a bigger slice of the small SUV market by offering better economy. We do have a premium on the CRD in Europe, but I think thats mainly because they know we would pay the extra to gain the better economy as our gas prices are way out of this world.
I had a go in a 2.8CRD with the Startech power boost module this week and it was a tarmac ripper. Even more torque means passing is really easy.
If the CRD really takes off over there then you may find that getting a great deal on the 3.7 becomes even easier.

When I called Jeep to ask about putting the CRD in the Renegade, the lady mentioned that they were getting a number of requests to put the CRD in both the Renegade and the TJ.

I think this engine is going to become VERY popular over here, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a number of other DC vehicles, the Dodge Dakota in particular. I owned a 99 Dakota club cab 4x4 with the 5.2 V8. Loved everything about - except the gas mileage. Unlike other small trucks, the Dakota was nothing but a smaller version of a full size in terms of it's power and capability. Put the CRD in it, and you've suddenly got a smaller version of a Ram with the Cummins diesel.

This engine is going to be very popular in the US, as well. I'm thrilled that they've been selling this in Europe, and production is already ramped up. I'm afraid there may even be delays in getting these to dealers due to popularity. I have no crystal ball, but the writing is on the wall. This is going to be a big year for Jeep.

Pick up the phone and call them - Jeep is driven by people who drive Jeeps.
