Thanks for the info guys. That was the one thing I was worried about was the weight of the Liberty if it is enough. I noticed the one thing with my xj is that at highway speeds it can start to wander a bit when towing due to the weight of the tow vehicle. It is a little unnerving when the boat weighs the same as the truck if not more. My buddy has a 95 Grand cherokee and he pulls my boat fine just because of the weight of the vehicle. I am leaning towards the CRD for the torque and fuel economy when not towing. I did see posts about none in 07 in the US but have not heard anything for us north of the border in Canada if it will still be available.

You might try anti sway bars. I used them pulling a 25 foot travel trailer and they did great especially when a semi passed.

V6 Liberty -> 4000lb
diesel Liberty -> 4300lb
I6 XJ -> 3300lb
V8 ZJ -> over 4500lb

So yeah, I expect the extra weight will help.

My CRD as equipped and with my wife and I in it > 5000 lbs

I like to stop at the weigh stations along Oregon highways.. I have yet to get weighed less than 5000lbs...

Hi folks,

In a week, I'm going to be trying out the towing capabilities of our CRD (my first time towing). We're towing a U-Haul tandem axle trailer (probably about 4500lbs loaded) for 1800 miles. I have an Equal-i-zer hitch to use for the job. This should make it a pretty stress-free drive.

Lets see. I hooked up my 06 Liberty CRD (when it was running) to my Jayco 19H Hybrid travel trailer. Anything about 55 mpg and it was a white knuckle ride. Granted I didn't have anti sway bars or a WD hitch but it really sucked. Now it is in the shop for the 2nd time for leaving my wife stranded on the side of the road. Looks like a lemon law case is about to happen. I went out last week and bought an 06 GMC Sierra Vortec Max and hooked up the RV today for a quick jaunt. What a difference the wheelbase makes. I won't EVER tow with the Liberty again, IF it ever runs again

If you would have had the RIGHT equipment installed, it would have been a breeze.
