Is this Liberty a good buy? need feedback fast plz thx
Hey everyone im like 99% sure im going to buy this Liberty tomorrow, but have a couple concerns. please let me know what you think.
http://cnj.craigslist.org/car/400666612.html he will sell it to me for $8,250 problems -couple of good scratches on driverside door -maybe a small vacuum leak -rear tire carrier is bent in a little to do small accident -tranny has small wet spot on bottom, but not dripping question -when i put the key in and turn it to the ON position, is the engine light suppose to stay lit while in the ON position or should it just stay on for a couple seconds then turn off? Is that normal or a concern? When I actually turn the truck on the egine light is not there though. Any fast feedback would be great thanks!!

the check engine light will stay on when the key is on and the engine is not running. it thinks there is a problem if the engine isn't running

It could be a regional thing, but my finacee has been shopping around for one here in southern MI and we have seen 3-4 with 45,xxx miles for only a few hundred more than that. I would keep my eyes open for a few more, but maybe it is a good deal in your area. Its definitely not a bad deal, but we have seen better.
EDIT: I did not read all your post....$8250 is a really good deal. I would jump on it if it checks out ok with a mechanic.

my wife bought her 2002 with 49000. it has been totally trouble free except for the ball joint recall,..but it was free. so no biggie. it looks like its been taken care of. if the thing checks out good with a mechanic then by all means its a good deal. the only thing ild worry about is the scratches, unless you plan on adding more yourself. it can be pretty exspensive to fix some deep scratches that go through to the metal of past the paint color.

Bought my Liberty from a dealer for 5K...so far no major issues and it has 86K miles on it. Might be able to get a better price if you keep looking. But then again we also refinanced ours recently for 10.5K...so we got a really good deal on it.
