Liberty CRD Surging Problems??

Have a 2006 CRD. Besides having to replace the torque converter and have the transmission reflashed a couple of times the little beast runs great. I am currently experiencing an engine surging problem. This typically happens when you accelerate and start easing off the throttle in small amounts. No dummy light or any indications are showed on the dash panel. Have taken this in three times to different dealers with no luck. I have read comments posted about air in the fuel lines and the fuel filter condition. I have replaced the fuel filter numerous times just to rule out crappy diesel. Nothing seems to work. I can replicate this problem just about any time i want. Does anyone have a idea that the all the five star dealers don't??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of fuel are you using? Biodiesel is great if you can find it up to B20, and are you sure the station your filling up at has ULSD fuel there is a sticker on the pump that says it is for use in 2007 model year vehicles. LSD(the old stuff) wreaks havoc on the EGR system in the KJ.

Sounds like you have air in the fuel system. Try just bleeding the fuel head with the nipple bleeder. I bet you will be surprised with the amount of air you get out.

I'd vote for air in the filter head. It's simple to test. Pump the plunger until it firms up, the crack the bleed screw. Continue to pump and open the bleeder until you get fuel out instead of air.

It's free, and it won't hurt to try it.

Try unplugging the MAF sensor. This got rid of my surging problems. Bleeding the fuel filter and cleaning the MAP sensor did not. This mod is discussed in great detail here http://www.lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/...ic.php?t=13299
