Registered User | Interestingly, I was at the dealer yesterday for an oil change...and they came out and said, "oh, there is a recall and we are replacing the ball joint". It was replaced under the last recall about two years ago. Yet, this was just announced about 5 hours ago, they must have known for awhile I guess?!?! So, got mine done yesterday...I beat the rush I guess. Recall: http://www.recall-warnings.com/auto-content-28649.html |

Registered User | Wonder what the specifics are about the recall. I just had mine replaced last month. Are they using the same joints? Will there be a time frame to get them replaced if they are still within safe specs? Say, next Spring after I beat the pudding out of this set over the Winter. |

Web Wheeler Join Date: Jul 2004 Location: Columbus, Ohio, USA Posts: 1,416 | So they're going to put the same crap on my 06 with 1500 miles on it. It sounds like they got away with using the "shipping/installation" as the problem and not inferior parts or backwards design of the joint as the problem. As another reported this is just free lower ball joints for life. Any indication they are using a better joint? Maybe they should do the same for the EGR valves and torue converters on CRD's ![]() __________________ JoBo Columbus, Ohio USA 2006 KJ CRD Atlantic Blue Pearl Coat Limited 2000 Cherokee Classic with factory 16" wheels |

Master of Diaper Changing Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: 16 square miles surrounded by reality Posts: 565 | It is probably wishfull thinking, but I a hoping they are changing the joint not just replacing with the same ****. My thought process on this is that they are even recalling KJ's that have already been recalled before. I am probably incorrect, but hoping. __________________ Colorado Jeep Member #12 Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it.... Pee on it and walk away... |

When I used my tdi for work I was putting up to 1k a week on it. Now doing less miles and on a company supplied van. Actually I've put in six half a tanks I got it because I was unsure of the future of diesels in the US after 2006 models and wanted another diesel![]() I guess when the first replacements go bad I'll put on a set of MOOG's. I might also ask DrZ about what they are being replaced by even though I know I'll get a wrong or generic answere ![]() __________________ JoBo Columbus, Ohio USA 2006 KJ CRD Atlantic Blue Pearl Coat Limited 2000 Cherokee Classic with factory 16" wheels | |
