So basically if im doing 95% highway driving, i should say something to the dealership because my gas mileage should be higher?

I have 4300 miles on the car, 2009 base package liberty.

If you doing 95% with that mileage,I would say something is wrong. You should be in the high teens, low 20s with your driving, its rated at 22MPG on highway.

Yea that seems pretty low. Are you calculating this yourself or is this what your EVIC says?

If you're cruising steady on the highway you should not have any problem being in the 17-20mpg range. I get better then 14 and I do a lot of city driving. I notice it wants to go down to 15 range the more city I drive but the more highway it goes up to around 17.

Do you run it hard at all? I am wondering if the engine is still tight like it isn't broken in all of the way.

hard as in pedal to the metal? Ive done it a few times but i usually just give her a nice steady pace of 60-80 on the highway and 30 in the neighborhoods. I dont jackrabbit the gas from stoplights and signs or anything.

I dont know what everyone is using for gas,but I've used mid-grade from day one,and noticed I seem to have better mileage, plus living in AZ helps.I would try mid-grade(2)tanks,and see what happens.2-3K,your engine should be broken in enough to start seeing better MPGs.Usually right after the first oil change.

New engines are relatively "tight" and do not get optimum fuel mileage. Some are tighter than others. Yours might be one of those. I wondered if you ran it hard at all but since you have, you are helping to break it in. I am not saying to do it all the time but I think it actually helps the engine if you do put the pedal to the metal and run it up to 5000 RPM once in a while.

Your fuel mileage is definitely on the low side and I would have the dealer check it out. Maybe flash the PCM?

I do a lot of city driving and 15 mpg is the lowest I have gotten. My city/suburb mix is more like 17 or 18 mpg. My absolute best highway mpg was 23.7 mpg one time.

I have been keeping a fuel mileage log in my cars since my 1984 VW GTI that I bought new. MPG always gets betters as the engines break in. So does the 1/4 times at the drag strip but that's another story, lol. I never made a pass in my Jeep.
