How to disable speed alarm on '05 Cherokee Limited?

My 2005 Cherokee Limited has a (standard equipment) speed alarm that chimes loudly and constantly when you go over 120km/h. Do American ones do the same over 55mph?

Anyway, I know that the alarm can be disabled - does anyone have instructions on how to do it?

This just shows how the Liberty or Cherokee can differ from country to country.

I too have the export "Cherokee" i called a mate at DC and he cant help, we dont have that installed, our speed limit is 120km/h but drive between 140 to 160 and there is no chime.

I sure hope you come rite with that because man id cut the wires to that chiming thing! I bet it drives you crazy

no, American ones don't do that by default. I don't mean to offend, but have you looked for the feature in the owner's manual? It should tell you how to change/disable that "feature."

When you find out how to do it, be sure to post the method here, as I'm sure others will want to know.

Nope, only alarms we hear are the ones attached to the flashing red lights in the rearview mirror.

I'm also from the Middle East, and my Liberty also has an alarm if you exceed 120 KM/H, and I asked the dealer, he said I DON'T KNOW.

You could just find the speaker thzat is making the sound and simply disonect it. Unless you need that chime for something else. There must ne fuse or something for it that you can just pull.

What you need is Factory Service Manual.

The dealers DO know they just don't want to waste time to help you "hack" into your Jeep's so called "sercurity" features. Thatfully here in the US Jeeps DO NOT do that. It would get very annoying as even though the speed limits are 70 MPH (112KPH) but we regularly travel above that.

No, it's not in the user manual, because the user is not supposed to be able to disable it! I imagine it'll be in the factory service manual. Is it possible to buy that online?

All new vehicles from all manufacturers imported into the UAE are required by law to have a 120km/h speed alarm. The dumb thing is, once they've been imported, there are no further checks to see if the alarm works, ever! So, many people go and get it disabled. Some dealers will even offer to disable the alarm for you when you buy the car - Jeep dealers don't

I can take the car to an independent Jeep specialist who will disable it for me, I was just trying to save myself a bit of cash! The alarm uses the same speaker(s) that are used by the car's other warning/notification sounds, so I was figuring that it's probably switched on and off via a hidden menu in the EVIC... but maybe you need a special Jeep tool or something like that.

Unbloging the speaker connector is not the sulution, and if you do so, the Airpage lamb in the dash will always be ON.
