Heater Blower Fan Noise

Hey Everyone,

I have 2216 miles on my CRD, loving it so far. Ever since it was new however, when I turn on the A/C or the heat, it doesn't matter, it seems as if the fan noise under the glove box is a little rattley. There is a little "tick tick tick tick tick" noise that is noticeable in fan speed 1 and 2 almost like there is something loose. It works fine, I don't want to take it to the dealership for something so small. You think this noise is normal?

My '05 Renegade does this as well, but I haven't taken it to a dealer. When I have to take it in for a recall or other service, I may have them look at it. If anyone else has had this problem and a dealer resolved the issue, then it would be good to hear what the problem was.

It is a piece of foreign matter in the plenum that is being struck by the squirrel cage as it rotates; the individual ribs of the squirrel cage tick tick tick as they go by the stick or straw or tie or whatever. When it speeds up to faster speeds the object is kept away from the fan cage by the wind, so the sound goes away.
If it were out of warranty you could remove the fan and remove the foreign object from the plenum/squirrel cage area. But since it is under warranty you of course want the dealer to fix it for you. That is an easy one, the mechanics will be all over that one for sure.
