Fuel mileage?

I have a 07 KJ with 126k miles, k/n filter, E3 spark plugs, 2.5" lift with 245/75-16 procomp all terrains. Garvin roof rack.I just drove from PA to FL and I'm averaging 16 mpg, with a suitcase and a duffle bag on the roof, running 70-75 mph. this mileage seems ridiculous, I would expect it to get in the 18 mpg range. What kind of numbers is everyone else getting?

Your doing good in the mpg area, actually better then expected runnin E3 spark plugs.Your lifted, bigger then stock tires(and much heavier),roof rack with cargo on it and complaining of mpg's

Strip all back down the stock if you want 18+mph's.

Did you get the computer changed for the bigger tires? I have about the same size tires, and the Speedo was just over 4mph faster than what I was really going. Tested it for a month with my GPS. Now my true mpg is right at 18.4. Go by gallons used to as close to the accurate mileage between point A and point B on your trip.

Btw, I am also running the E3 plugs, and I love them. Also have them in my Firebird not too street friendly drag car.

I wouldn't run those plugs in a lawnmower I was trying to blow up.There junk just like the splitfire plugs. In the last couple of months I've replaced about 50 set of those plugs, all with less then 500 miles on them, due to misfiring and putting the correct OE spec'd plugs back in took care of the misfire issue.

I was going by the math, I don't have one of those mpg computers. My mother has a 04 ram 1500 4x4 hemi crew cab that gets 17 mpg, my 7000lb f350 diesel with 35's gets 18.5 mpg highway. I'm going to look into getting one of those hypertech programmers. And maybe a high flow cat and a performance muffler.

It's a diesel that's why it gets that good mpgs. I get around 16-18 and I'm stock, it's a jeep not the most fuel effiecient vehicles out there

I get 9mpg's city,can still do 18 on the highway.Not bad for a 6000lbs Jeep on 35's.

I just got my 2007 Liberty ten days ago while visiting my parents in VA. (I am in Ohio, just outside of Cleveland.) It only had 42K miles on it. Assuming what appeared to be a full tank when I bought it was correct, I got 21+ mpg on the 375 mile drive back. (PA turnpike, etc.) Since then I have made my regular commute into Cleveland and back (34 mile round trip) and that 21+ number seems to be holding up. My commute is about 2/3 highway and 1/3 city.

Looking at the other numbers here I feel pretty lucky. Everything is stock, by the way.

I'm loving my Jeep (first ever), and am glad to have found this forum!

Carrying stuff on the roof creates a lot of extra wind drag and not good for gas mileage.

Lift, bigger tires, etc is not good for gas mileage.

When mine was stock I got better gas mileage but now lifted with bigger tires, etc....not so much. I am on a "first name basis" with the guy at the gas station.....LOL. It's a Jeep not a Volt.

Lose the e-3 spark plugs. The OEM copper core NGK's listed on your emissions sticker are better for the 3.7L. You won't magicly get stellar gas mileage like a little econo-car but they are the proper plug for the KJ.

Just my opinion.

I get about the same lifted as I did when it was stock what little bit I lost by lifting is offset by not looking like every other KJ out there
