Very easy, six bolts at either end. Check the CV boot at the transfer case end, those things crack. If it is cracked you can get rebuild kits for the CVs here for $70.

I am having similar issues with my 06 Liberty. The sound is like I have "mudder" tires on. The rumbling gets loud after 20mph. Is the front shaft something I should be looking at as the cause?

Definitely check it out since it's a common problem. Just crawl under and look at the rubber boot on the CV joint at the transfer case end of the driveshaft. If it's cracked or torn, then that's probably the cause of the noise.
