Diesel warranty in California

Called local dealer about the trans flash recall and they can do it but said they can't touch anything on engine as they are not diesel approved. He also said none of the jeep dealers are in CA as they don't sell them here. Maybe the dodge dealers can help me put that parts will take longer to get as they don't stock them here in CA. Anyone else have this problem?

Well, you might have to go to another state for engine work. I am in NY, but CT dealers are about 50 miles away.

Good luck

What does the tranny that is used in a bunch of DC vehicles have to do with the engine?

Some TSBs have to do with both computers, engine and tranny so they wouldn't be able to do just half of it. But, if it were tranny only, no worries like he said.

Could it be that a local Dodge dealer might be able to do engine-related work? They might not really 'want' to since it isn't a Cummins, but they should be 'able' to?

I'm thinking that none of the california dealers can work on the crd because it was never certified for sale(new)there.Just a guess.

I can see a CA dealer not wanting to have anything to do with a CRD. Would you given the CRD issues and DC level of support on this product? I see the same attitude with dealers around me where they are sold. I would put the monkey on DC's back, call DC as ask them to arrange for a dealer to service your recall and warranty work.

The way I look at it is if I have an engine problem that is so bad it is un drivable they are going to have one hell of a towing bill to get it to Nevada.

They will up until 36,000 miles. Then it's on your dime unless you have roadhazard plus towing with your insurance company. If so, like me, they have to tow it to the nearest place that can fix it. I love Geico. For an additional $8 a month, I have the mechanical breakdown coverage that fixes anything but with a $250 deductible. It's comforting to know that is all I will ever have to pay until 7 years or 100,000 miles for each occurance.

Believe it or not, I see the same concern with the CRD on my 100 mile/day commute. If it takes a ***** on the way to work, DC will want to (and only pay for) the tow to the closest Jeep dealer. Two of the dealers already told me they won't sell and don't want to service a CRD. Atleast they were honest about it and would understand them being clueless.

That's why having coverage that will tow it to the nearest place that can and will fix it is important. I hate that I am trying to expect the expected but it is the conservative in me.

That's why I got the 7 year 100K warranty from Chrysler. It will remain thier problem if it breaks down.

How

How did you get the 7yr; 100,000 mile warranty on an 06? They came with a 7yr; 70,000 for 05's, but I was told that was discontinued for 06.
