CRD fuel bleed won't close
THis morning I made a trip, and when I started the jeep to come back, had to bleed the fuel system at the filter housing. It's been getting more common lately. I keep the right wrench with me...
Anyway, I got home, it sat for a while and lost all prime when I went to start it. I went to bleed it again, and discovered the bleed screw does not stop flowing. It feels like it's seated. I don't want to put more torque against it because it feels like that's about all the threads should take.
THe good news is I think I know why its been loosing prime. THe bad news is I don't have a solution.
When I pump the prime now,it comes right thru the bleed screw. I took the screw out and cleaned it and inspected it. No galling on the screw - but I don't know what shape the end of the screw should be. I know its a bevelled screw, but is the end supposed to be rounded a bit or flat.
Any suggestions - do I need to clean the housing out? How? Do I need a new screw? A new housing?
I searched all over and haven't seen anyone else with a bleeder that won't close...
