Cooling Fan Stupid Question 2003 Liberty

Had the water pump replaced. Looked this morning and it appears that there is something missing! There is an electric fan mounted on the radiator but no fan in the normal place. Can anyone tell me if there should be a fan?

Standard fitting is the electric fan, if you have heavy duty cooling, then you get the viscous fan on the front of the engine.

Right now there is a very clean, silver, threaded piece there. Looks too clean to be like that for 7 years. Not sure if it has heavy duty cooling.

The waterpump comes with a new pulley mounted already, hence the clean looking threads you are seeing.

Okay, that makes sense! I'd hate to think my mechanic, who is a friend, would forget to put a fan on!!
