I would ask the guy what the measurements are. If you look at his picture, he is the exact width of the zj roof rails, but it mounts by u bolts. You should be able to get a u bolt on one of the left to right tubes and catch your roof rail. Just make sure that the rack isn't too wide to sit on top of your kj.

It will send your request to junkyards all over.

You can reach out to Dennis, he is the guy who had one for me. I know he had a few more jeeps in the yard

I've put in a couple requests using this website. I'd be stoked if this works. A great idea! I don't care if my roof rack needs to be sanded and repainted.. who cares. Used is perfectly fine with me.

If you are looking for a bolt on rack you could always do what I did and get some EMT and bend up and weld your own the size you want and the style you want. I spent $30 maybe and a couple days bending and welding.

More because it sits on saris bars that come off. I could bolt directly to the bars and save a few inches but lose quick tool less removal.

My first one was held on with 4 ubolts and could be removed in less than 4 minutes. Bottom of the rack sat even with the side bars. Had 1/2 inch all thread running side to side ( drilled through the side bars to keep it as low as possible

I found a chemical tote at work made out of aluminum that is already factory welded and has more supports/structural integrity than the safari racks you can get online.
I'm going to try and chop it up and mod it to see if it will work. The measurements are right on too (40"x48"x9", pretty standard for the racks on the net for sale.. 4" taller than the 5" racks though).
I'm not sure it will turn out beautiful.. but I won't know until I try.

If it turns out looking good: Free sure will beat $350.

Bolts in the same spot as the OEM rails.

Ah, nice. So you can remove the stock rails.. the bolt holes that are exposed after removing the stock rails you just bolt into the same (newly exposed) bolt holes that were previously used for the stock rails. Got it.. nice.

Does anyone else rember the old AA Battery powered Stomper toys from the early 1980's?

I just realized my love of my Jeep is because of child Stomper love.
