Hey guys I have an 06' limited 3.7L KJ. I have been running into these random issues with it starting. I can't tell if it's because I accidentally let off the key to early but occasionally I will turn it (the key) and it will shutter and shake and then fail to start and its hard to start again after that. Could this be a symptom of a bad starter? It's got about 84,000 miles on it. I assume the difficult restart is because it's flooded so does anyone know what I have to do to get it to purge itself? I know sometimes you have to like pump the petal or something along these lines
Pumping the pedal relates to carbs, and doesn't apply to fuel injection. Holding the gas pedal to the floor and then cranking the engine initiates the clear flood mode. How old are your spark plugs? They are due every 30k miles and NGK copper plugs are the correct plug for it.
Mine was doing the same thing before my first plug change. Don't think the PO ever changed them (80k when I bought it). Now I change them every 25-30k and all is well.
Your right it's probably the spark plugs! Didn't even think of that. I don't know how old they are I bough the jeep at 50K and it's now at 80K so it's time for a change anyway. My MPG's have also been quite poor lately so this makes sense. Thank guys
