AC/Heater fan not working on 1-3 setting

Help! I just purchased a used 2003 Jeep Liberty and just the other day the AC/Heater fan quit working on settings 1-3. It still works on the highest setting (4). Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be. The last thing i want to do is have to take it in and pay $$$ to get it looked at and fixed.

The fan switch resistor went bad. Easy fix from what I hear.

it probably needs a blower resistor.its behind the glove box with 2 screws holding it in.it shouldnt take more than 5 minutes to change.it costs about 12 bucks heres the part number 5066552AA

See above for a copy I grabbed a while back off some other forum

Open the glove box, let it drop all the way down, take it out, to see the resistor, it sits on top of the heater box.

Speed 1 (low) died on mine a week or so ago; I only noticed it this weekend! I ordered the part and we'll see how that does. For your own reference this is the location of the restor block;

[this is the right side of the dash with the glove compartment removed]

And in order to understand how and why it works like it does...
The wiring for the resistor block;

My girlfriends '05 Jeep Liberty is having the same problem. Has anyone fixed this successfully and can anyone supply a link for the part. None of the above links bring my to the proper part or they no longer work.

Thank you very much!

Tried this - not the answer

I replaced the resistor and checked the fuse, but the blower is still not working. Is it the blower motor itself? What is the easiest way to test this?

I just had this fixed by my local deal and was charged just over one hundred dollars. 2 of the resistors on the palm-sized card were burned out. Totally underrated resistor elements!

If you have had - or continue to have problems with the resister pack going south on you, order up a resister pack from a "Sebring" as they are a direct swap and are twice as beefy as the stock one. The part number is #5174124AA. It does cost more that the original, but worth it.

Def worth checking the online venders for parts like this. There is a reason that many owners have started to call them stealerships. Many set the price to what ever they want.
