I'm in Scotland and new to the forum. I've got a 2006 2.8 crd with 42,000 miles on the clock.
Have had the abs, bas/esp and slippery car sign on for several weeks now. Not all the time but most of it. After a 20 mile or so run and after being parked for about an hour the lights will sometimes go out and stay out when you re-start, sometimes they come back on again. There's no real pattern.
I've done the following - stripped and overhauled the front calipers and fitted new pads (the calipers were binding when I got the Jeep) and they're fine now.
Overhauled the parking brake (shoes were fine) and fitted new discs/drums and new pads. Did not overhaul rear calipers but the car rolls on slightest incline so don't think they're sticking. I haven't got a meter to check the abs line from the joint under the rear seat to the abs wheel connectors but I checked each cable individually by making it part of a circuit with a bulb and a spare battery and the bulb lit up with each of the 4 cables.
I bought an Innova 3160d scanner to put me out of my misery and it showed a fault code C102A Left Rear Wheel Speed Comparative Performance, so I bought a new abs sensor and fitted it to the left hand side, cleared the code but still the lights came on after about 25 feet. I changed the new sensor to the right hand side just in case but the lights came back after being cleared again. I have also checked both abs rings and can see nothing wrong with them either.
So I am puzzled - I am thinking the scanner is correct but is actually telling me something else if you see what I mean.
I now can't think of anything else to do other than fall back on what the scanner is loosely telling me and I am thinking of overhauling the rear calipers.
Could it be anything else do you think?
I've never had so much of a problem with any car I've had!
