60,000 Mile Maintenance Information/Suggestions

@ 60K Miles Jeep suggests that the following maintenance be done:

1. Engine Oil and Oil Filter
2. Replace/Clean Air Filter
3. Spark Pulgs
4. PCV Valve
5. Transmission Main Sump Pump
6. Drive Belt
7. Drain/Refill FRONT and REAR Axel fluid
8. Drain/Refill Transmission Fluid
9. Drain/Refill Transfer Case Fluid

does anyone have any recommendations on Oil/Filter, Air Filter, SPARK PLUGS (much debated topic) , Axel Fluid, Tranny Fluid, and Xfer case fluid? Are there any products out there that you recommend or DO NOT recommend? Just trying to make my Jeep age well...

I always stick with Mobile 1 5W20 with a Mobile 1 Filter. K&N for the drop in filter. Im using E3 plugs but havnt noticed anything different so i would stick with the dealership plugs if they have worked for you. As for the rest i dont know, others will chime in

60k lists...

I would use synthetic for all the oils/gear lube, and include power steering flush/ brake fluids, and battery /distilled water level if applicable.
Add to that list the belt tensioner when replacing the serpentine belt.
Also before spark plugs, clean the throttle body/emission service.
Inspections of front and rear suspension/exhaust.
Normally I also would check/change wiper blades, and exterior lights and tires check.
I normally just use mobil1 5-30 with a 1" nut on the bottom of a K&N filter for easy removals.
I use Purolator air-filter.
Even though you are draining tranny make sure you do the filter there...
Hope this helps. ...good luck on the major service tune up...

note that this 60k maintenance is for vehicles following schedule "B"
Quote:
Schedule “B” — Gasoline Engines
Follow schedule “B” if you usually operate your vehicle
under one or more of the following conditions.
• Day or night temperatures are below 32°F (0°C).
• Stop and go driving.
• Extensive engine idling.
• Driving in dusty conditions.
• Short trips of less than 10 miles (16.2 km).
• More than 50% of your driving is at sustained high
speeds during hot weather, above 90°F (32°C).
• Trailer towing.
• Heavy loading.
• Taxi, police, or delivery service (commercial service).
• Off-road or desert driving.
• If equipped for and operated with E-85 (ethanol) fuel.
schedule "A" 60k maintenance (which is none of schedule B) requires:
changing oil and oil filter
rotate tires
inspect air filter
inspect pvc valve
change spark plugs
inspect drive belt
replace antifreeze

and any time you rotate tires it is a good idea to take a quick look at the life left on your brake pads and rotors.

honestly, I just use regular oil at the dealership. I am told that every 5k is how often to change it, however, I change it every 3k. you may ask, "Why?" Well, my oil change is only $12.95. So going 6k on $25 or 6k on synthetic at $55 and up, is not much of a toss-up for me. I will always keep it changed, so it is ok to use regular.
I probably only need to use schedule b, however, I think I am going to stick with schedule a for harder driving, because, I never know how rough I may be with it in the future.
