2008 Liberty Antenna

My new Liberty has the rear roof mounted Euro style radio antenna. well its just long enough to scrape on my garage door when I enter and exit the garage. Does anyone know if there is a shorter version available? Thanks!!

I had the exact same problem with my garage door and antenna, especially backing out! I found a Pontiac Montana (they're also on other GM vehicles) that had a short wire wrapped rubber antenna that fit. This was not off of a new model, they twist off with a quarter turn instead. I had to put a small piece of allthread(or cut off bolt) in it because the Chrysler mount took a male antenna post and the GM mount took a female antenna post. It was the same thread size. It works fine and is only about 3" long vs. the 8" that it came with.

Pretty stupid place to put an antenna really. I would go ahead and tear it off and put it in the right place like on the kj.

I made an adjustment to my door opener so that it opened a little further. I have the 18" wheels and it now clears.

We've got very low doors, 6 1/2'. I did the same thing but it didn't help much. That's why I changed to the stubby antenna.

Does the stubby guy work ok? I'll have to admit the orig antenna looks pretty weird. I wonder what the engineer was thinking.

The radio works fine. The factory antenna is just too long and sticks up too far. It would line up exactly with the pull down handle of the door. The antenna angle was just like threading a needle. I watched my wife back out once and thought it was going to rip the base right off of the roof!
