BDS is an ~ OK lift. The most well talked about by owners that have a lift is the OME / Frankenlift for KJ's.

Tire wise - 245-75-16's would be the size you need. An AT tire would most likely do the job for what you mentioned.

BDS is one of the better quality lift kits.
The only kit they offer for the KJ is a 2 inch kit, with 2 inch front springs, 1.5 inch rear springs, front strut relocation brackets, and rear shocks.

The upfitter I do some work for has installed this specific kit on 4 KJ's for a police department with very good results.
Also, we used 245/75R16 tires, and they work well with this kit. We specifically used goodyear MTR's at the client's request, although that wouldnt have been my first choice for a sandy desert environment that these trucks see service in.

Anyway, these installs were done in 2006-2008, and as far as i'm aware, none of them have come back in for any breakage or damage to the suspension itself.
However, BDS has one of the best warranties in the business if anything does break.

PS: Installing HID's in stock housings is bad. Here is why.

Hello!

I just had my front drive shaft replaced, I see the same guy has more! Go to Ebay item 270590640944. He worked with me on mine. FYI take it off to measure it...I had to send mine back and get another one because the mechanic measured it wrong. It's a very strong and much better drive shaft now! Have you been over to lostkjs.com yet?? Lots of good info there about lifts...I have the frankenlift 2 from boulderbars.com Good luck, have fun!

Madrabbit are you sure they're 1.5's in the rear? My kit came with 2 inch springs front and rear. I could be wrong but I believe the 1.5 inch rear is their spacer kit, not the suspension kit. X2 on the incredible durability though.

That type of front driveshaft will cause more issue in the long run then solve. It's the wrong type of driveshaft for the front of a KJ,and yes there is a difference. You just can not throw a u-joint driveshaft on without 1st making modifications for that shaft to work.

when you hit the beach air don your tires to a low psi, someone help me out here, 8 psi? Anyways that will help you immensely from sinking into the sand, air up again once you hit the streets.

I usually go down to about 14psi with no issues at IBSP. You should be fine.

You should have gotten 255/70-16s. For the beach, you want the widest tires you can fit...and the 255s would work and look better, not to mention in the Generals they are MUCH lighter and won't kill your fuel economy. Go back and tell them you want 255/70s.
