You will be looking at timing belt, water pump, idler pulley replacement at 100K. If you are proficient on diesel maintenance and can do it yourself, between 600 to 700 parts only.

Need to see if there is a verifiable service history that you can track for whatever one you look at. Worthwhile to check car-fax on it to see how many owners it has had.

05's do have a few less computer nannies to have to put up with, which is a good thing. Have been reports that the 05's get a bit better economy than the 06's - although can't verify that personally.

Price seems a bit too high though, over the last 4 months there have been several I've seen in the 9.5 to 10K price range for that type of mileage. About 6 months back, I picked up a one owner 05 with 17K miles for 13,200.

Hope that is a bit of help.

I'm in the middle of arguing the price. I told them 10,000 just waiting for them to respond. They showed me the car fax only one owner. Clean report from what i saw.

I forgot to mention, get a service writer at the dealership to pull up a VIP report by the VIN number. It should show any service / repairs done at any authorized dealer on that rig since new. That should be free.

Think about extended warrenty. Doesn't cover service - but .... you know.

I think that's to much money for those miles. I bought mine with 42,000 for 13,000. Look at the autotrader. There are lots of examples nation wide with less miles for less money.

I saw it on autotrader. I went and test drove it. It runs and looks exellent. I told the salesman $10,000. They told me I was crazy. They been calling me and trying to get me back into the dealership. I told the guy over the phone $11,000, but now i think i'll stay at $10,000.

An extended warranty won't be available through Chrysler as they only give it to Jeeps under 4 years old.

Well I bought one new in 05...put 22,000 miles on it and sold it. Wish I hadn't.

But a couple of weeks ago I picked up another '05 with 75,000 miles on it and paid $15,900. Even at that, I was well under KBB book value and right on NADA book value. So if you tell them you'll give them $10,000 and they laugh at you, don't be surprised.

On this one I have noticed there is a speaker blown in the passenger side door, an annoying rattle coming from the passenger seat, and the intercooler hoses blew on me the day after I bought it. That was $488 repair at the Jeep dealership. Otherwise it seems to run just like the one I bought brand new. I really like it.

A black one owner 05 CRD Limited with 31K miles just sold on Auto trader for 8G today out of Denver - a guy was deploying and had to sell fast. That one was a steal. I just missed it.

$500 is a lot of money. $500 will buy a LOT of diesel fuel and/or mods. That's the thing holding me back from GDE. Even for a computer tune, that's still way too high.

If you are going to sell the crd in less than 50k miles then don't do it. Otherwise it will pay for itself pretty quick.
In the meantime you will be experiencing exhilarating performance.
