2003 Limited Radio

I was told by dealer I got the amp powered speakers in my liberty, and the driver side is blown. They are very expensive to buy is there away around buying a new speaker?

does the speaker produce any sound?
Mine had just come apart at the surround. I almost bought new ones. I ended up just putting a small bead of silicone on both front speakers. They work great and have been working for almost a year.

Do you have the Infinity system in your Jeep?

Yes it is the infinity speakers in mine. I was told if you just go and buy speakers without the power to them they just wont sound good.

I think each speaker has it's own amp attached, so you'd either have to buy a Infinity speaker out of another KJ, or from the dealer, or get a whole new speaker system without amps or with an external amp. You could also try Craigslist and Ebay. Hope that all makes sense. BTW, if you change out all the speakers let me know, I'd like the dash tweeters

I think the speakers have a crossover attached, not an amp. I believe the amp is centrally located and the electronics that you see on the speaker is a crossover. Do a search. Some people have found aftermarket speakers that have been able to have the crossover attached to them. Good luck.

^^^ Correct. The crossover you can purchase just about anywhere as any crossover will do if the crossover points are matched. You could probably have a guy at a stereo shop make one for you relatively cheaply.
