2002 Liberty Power Locks Sound

Hi Guys,

About a week ago i've had a problem with my power locks. They work fine and perform there function, and as you guys know when you start the car and start driving away the car doors automatically locks up in about 5 seconds and you hear the clicking sound. Well about a week ago the there's been an awful ERRRRR! type sound then this happens and when I use the wireless door lock on my key, it seems to come from the back right passenger side door. It is actually quite loud and has startled people in the back seat which is actually extremely funny. Do you guys know what the problem would be or have any of you guys experience it? Also, is it an expensive fix?

Thanks,
Luke

Luke, the auto lock up happens at 15 mph. It is a programed thing, but you can do away with it if you like. It sounds like a motor is working rough in the door panel. I can't help you with the cost of repair.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably just have the dealer take a look at it soon. The sound is just more annoying then anything.

sounds like an actuator(door lock mechanism) is going out.

Door latch is failing get it replaced before it breaks in the locked position as often times the door will not open(no fun removing a KJ door panel with the door stuck closed)
