2002 Jeep Liberty - Odd Issue
I've done some searching to see if anyone had something similar happen, but no one has mentioned our exact issue, so I thought I'd post it up anyhow.
Our Jeep is giving us intermittent starting problems, which, I believe are related to the Overhead Console (not sure what you pros call it). For some reason, the dash fuel gauge will read the correct amount of fuel, but the console will show Distance to Empty of 0kms/miles. I can start the Jeep up if I rev it and I can keep it running provided I don't let the engine stall (keep it reved). When I start driving, eventually the Overhead Console starts to read the fuel level properly (i.e. 150 DTE), and then the vehicle will stay on no problem.
The Overhead Console also seems to be resetting itself every time the vehicle is started - whether we experience the no-start or not - and defaults back to Miles versus Kilometres.
So, is there a sensor that the Overhead Console uses to read the fuel level that the cluster gauge doesn't? It seems odd to me that the Overhead Console would take precedence over the cluster, but I have no idea if that's actually the case.
Any ideas?
