2002 Jeep Cherokee (Liberty) Manual - Clutch

Hi All

I recently picked up a 2002 Jeep Cherokee (I'm in the UK), 2.5 CRD Sport (diesel), 5 speed manual gearbox.

I bought the vehicle with a failed turbo so had not driven it. The turbo's been replaced and it runs fine.

However, the clutch is very very heavy to depress/operate, so much so that my wife can't drive the car and to be honest I find it uncomfortable.

The actual gear change is fine.

Are the Cherokee's/Liberty's known for having such a heavy clutch or do I have a problem? I come from a background of driving Land Rovers and tractors on the farm so do have some experience of heavy clutches!

Thanks

Dave

Thanks

It's a shame as it just ruins the drive.

Is Jeep clutch replacement of a similar complexity as other clutches i.e. will a standard independant garage be able to sort? I have a friend with a garage that I trust, he specialises in Land Rovers.

Any idea of likely rough cost?

Thanks

David

Hi
Yes very easy to change
04741296 SEAL INPUT SHAFT 12.96
52104289AG CLUTCH KIT PRESSURE 120.75
53008342 BEARING CLUTCH RELEA 36.23
3 hours labour total dealer price with VAT 471.82
This is from online menu pricing so should be about the correct price for any UK dealer at least gives you something to go on. would double check the part number (should be correct but don't want you to go on my say so)
Regards,
Merlin
