2002 Front Drive Shaft Keeps Failing

2002 KJ, appx 200K miles, some off-road playing follow the leader with the TJ. I have had this rig in the shop twice this year for the CV joints on the front drive shaft. I forget why I had the shop replaced the shaft the first time, probably making a noise. It went out after a few hundred miles and blew grease all over the exhaust. They replaced it and a few hundred miles later (while pulling a (small) trailer in the rain) the front axel disconnected itself from the transfer case.

It could be that the shop I am using is snake-bit, it could be that there were a couple of bad parts, or it could be that the transmission/transfer case is gronked. If anyone can suggest anything that I could do to check the rest of the drive-train please post. Thanks,
