03 Liberty

Have an 03 Liberty Sport with 134K, I have just started to hear a rubber screeching sound coming under the front end. I have read about a recall some years ago on the ball joints, and many problems with the control arm/bushings. I put the car in netural and slowly turned the steering wheels. The sound comes when the tires are turned to the left, not the right. It is definitly coming from somewhere under the front end. Could I still get the ball joints replaced under the recall? Are you able to tell just by looking if a ball joint is bad, or how can you tell if either control arm is going bad? Any help with this would be great.
