03, 120k, Liberty Needs New Tranny - quoted $2700 w/labor & fluids, seem right?

Well my liberty was at the dealer yesterday to get the airbag recall done and they did a once over and said the tranny would likely need repairing not being a fan of dealerships I took it to my trustworthy local shop here in Boulder. Anyway, long story short its throwing a bunch of codes and needs replacing after 120k on my 03 renegade, auto.

Dealer quoted above $4000 and the local shop here just called an said $3700 for I think what they called remaintenanced? tranny, that $3700 includes all labor and fluids. Before giving them the go ahead wanted to ask all you guys if this is reasonable sounding? I'm mechanical but in no way do I trust myself doing the tranny nor do I have the tools so thats out of the question for a dyi project. I'd really appreciate everyones opinion and suggestions before getting it done.

Thanks!

I guess they said "remanufactured" - a previously-used trans that has been stripped down and rebuilt with brand-new parts, making it effectively like-new.

BTW, you've quoted $2700 in your thread title and $3700 in the body of the post. Which is it? If it's the latter, I'm surprised that there's only a few hundred dollars difference between the dealership and the local shop.
