I'm going to be doing a tranny service. I know there is the filter in the pan, but is there a spin on one too?

Yes both are in the pan, the spin-on being the return filter. Use OEM filters as stated above.

So how can I tell if I have a standard or deep pan? I guess I need to know that for ordering it.

Great. Thanks. Is there a reason for OEM only? Wouldn't others have the new design? What was the reason for the redesign? I was going to go with wix but I gues I can go straight OEM if its really necessary and they aren't to outrageous price wise.

The aftermarket has not gotten the plans for the updated spin on filter. They updated it for a internal valve issue blocking flow to the cooler(as that filter is just the cooler line filter).

Last time I did my filters the OEM ones were $10 cheaper then any aftermarket kits.I change out my filters every 30k and flush the trans every 15k.
