02 liberty a/c

Ok so this may be long, but i apologize. The problem with the a/c, it was blowing warm air, then it would be cold. On and off, So i take it to a Chrysler dealer, that was a joke. They put their dye in it to see if it was leaking anywhere, and came back and said they couldnt find anywhere it was leaking, couldnt see any dye. They were Chrysler technicians. Here is the kicker, they did this twice, and both times the refrigerant was near empty. Anyone experience this before, or have any idea where the freon could be leaking, or why it isnt working? Compressor seems to be working fine too. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Adam

Dye usually works fine, however, there are exceptions. If there is dirt and crude around a leak, it will soak up the dye like a sponge, and leave no traces of a leak visible with a black light. If you have an evaporator leak, you will likely never see any dye either, unless you can get to the evaporator with a bore scope with a blacklight attachment. Another exception, is some kind of leaks will allow the R134A to leak out, but due to the type of leak, the molecules of the dye are too big to make it thru. Areas of the aluminum tubing for the a/c system that have been rubbed to the point they leak often will do this. I speak of this from experience on each of those situations. It can be frustrating, that is for sure.
