'02 Liberty almost stalled. Ideas?

Hi All, thanks in advance for your help.

'02 Liberty Sport 3.7L
137K, original owner

Last year it stalled for the first time, while slowly tooling around a parking lot, stopped, shifted into reverse, stall. Started back up fine.

Yesterday after 20min of city driving, came to a stop for 10 sec (still in Drive). Headlights & interiour lights dimmed. Engine almost stalled.
Shifted to park & problem went away.
Shifted to drive, problem returned.
Put it away in the garage overnight.

Today it started up & ran 100% fine, tooled around town a bit, then put a multimeter on the battery. 12.5V engine-off, and 14.4V engine running. Turned on lights & blower, goes down to 14.0V, then back up to 14.3V.

Any ideas where the gremlin might be?

Plugs? Ever clean the throttle body? Speedo work? Need more info.

I want to follow-up this thread by explaining what was done to solve the issue.
Spark plugs were installed at a local shop a few years back during a 100K tuneup.

Today, Chrysler guys said the plugs are the wrong types (Autolite) and have the wrong gaps.
New plugs & tune-up.

Also, they discovered a faulty throttle position sensor & replaced it.

but you were over due on the plugs even if they were the right kind

Hi tommudd,

Just to clarify - I had the plugs replaced about 4 years ago at 100K miles.
Today, Chrysler dealer replaced them at 134K miles. (my "137K" number at the beginning of this thread was wrong).
So.... it has been 4 years and 34K miles. Shouldn't *proper* plugs last longer than that?

jeep usually recommends a 30k mileage replacement on spark plugs for the 3.7, they usually take an NGK copper plug, they run the best on them
