window tint typed

I have a new to me 06wk. I want to tint the windows to help with the San Antonio heat. I haven't gotten my windows tinted in a vehicle in 25+ years. There are lots of options now besides %. What have you guys used that works well or hasn't?

Hard top or soft? Hard top should be no different then any other car window tinting. Soft tops are a bit problematic. Most folks who want that just purchase the version with tinted windows included. DIY options never quite look right with soft tops....

I had LLumar put on my daily. There are a lot of options and it's hard to know what is best. I did some research and didn't find anything bad about LLumar and as long as you go to a shop that has a good reputation you should be fine. They'll have a lifetime warranty which made me feel better about choosing a place. Let me know if you have other questions!

What % did you go with? 1st I was considering the darkest that is legal here in Texas. I've been reading that the % doesn't have an effect on cooling the vehicle.

I went 35%. The difference in the inside temperature of the car on a sunny day is night and day. I wanted to go darker for privacy but didn't because I wanted to be able to see out of the mirrors at night without rolling the windows down. Let me know if you have other questions!

Last question. I was quoted $480 for doing the whole vehicle. Is that the norm. now.

That seems like a lot. In our area (SE PA) I paid $180 and that was for 9 windows: 4 door car, back window and 4 quarter windows. I think I was charged $60 for the 2 front windows of my TJ when I had it done years ago. I'd shop around a bit.
