Ohio boy here, WARN has never failed me so I have never had a reason to sample anything else. I have seen a few winches smoke on the trail but never a WARN.

Warn just seemed to make the best combination of the features I wanted and product support.

I've had a few friends, especially one (Scott Hill), who had a totally negative experience getting Ramsey to repair their nearly new winches under warranty. Ramsey said his was "abused" and thus Ramsey wouldn't repair it under warranty, he ended up paying to have it repaired... even though it was still less than a year old.

Warn has a de facto lifetime no questions asked warranty.

Warn invented the winch for recreational use. They stay on the cutting edge of winch technology. It could be something that your life depends on. Do you really want to save a few bucks in that department?

I put a used warn 9000i on my 04. Mounted easily, and has not let me down. I've used it about 4 times. Was moving some trees that were blocking a trail, I was afraid it would pull the poor little jeep apart, I'm sure if I kept the juice on it would have lifted the back tyres . It never even got warm. Good investment.

Ever wonder why fewer shops sell Ramsey? There are only a few distributors that will even carry their product because of the return rate.

Go with Warn and this is why, I've pulled myself out and a few of my friends out over the course of about two hours last summer and the M8000 I have wasn't hardly warm to touch. That impressed me. Warn makes I very dependable winch.

WOW!!!!! Thanks for the replies.........I didn't expect such an overwhelming, one sided response How could so many smart fellow jeepers be wrong. So I guess it must be WARN. Now do I want an 8000 or 9000 internal or external To many decisions

Well, my .02 is that while an 8,000 lb. winch is enough capacity for a Jeep, a 9000 lb. capacity has an extra margin of capacity while drawing a whole lot fewer amperes from your electrical system (up to >100 amps difference) while pulling the same load that a smaller capacity which does.

So far as the internal or external solenoid decision goes, it's a whole lot easier to install one with the internal solenoid pack.

I haven't needed to use my Warn much yet, but it hasn't failed me and the reputation is good.
