Winches

What winches do you guys run? Should I be looking at an 8000 or 9000lb winch? I was looking at Warn because Ive heard their the best, but at quadratec.com they have Superwinchs for a lot cheaper? Whats the difference? Where is a good place to buy a winch and a winch mount?

Thanks

www.jeepinoutfitters.com is a good place to buy Warn winches from. The 9.5ti is going for 910.00 last time I checked and Quadratec is asking 1100.00. There are some vendors out there that are jeepforum members so I would wait for them to chime in here.

either go with warn or ramsey they both have lifetime warranty's and make a good product remember when you are stuck the last thing you want to brake is the thing you are reliing(sp?) on to pull you out other winches will probably work but I would recommend just buying a warn its a one time investment so make it count

I have the warn 8274. I just used it again today when I was up to my rockers in snow - whew, thank the lord for winches. I really dig having 150' of cable to work with, it's a blessing when you need it. My buddy has 9000# ramsey on his XJ and I have seen it in action as well - it worked like a horse.

8000lbs should be fine, though I see no reason not to go with a larger one if you can afford it.

Warn discontinued their 8000lb winch, so I got the XD9000i.

When did they do that? I know they changed the part numbers to coincide with serial numbers for warranty pruposes. Never heard a word about it being discontinued. Its considered one of their "Premium" winches.
