Warn is one of the biggest names in winches. They offer a great product and people usually don't have many problems with their units.
Just remember when shopping for winches, you get what you pay for. I have heard very good things about Milemarker, T-maxx, and the Magnum (which is made by warn). I would stay away from the units that only cost like 300 bucks. It is a big purchase and everyone has their own opinion on which is best. If you do a lot of winching, I would stick to a higher end (warn) unit. If your winch will only be used for self recovery and used once in a while, I think you can easily get away with a t-maxx, magnum, or milemarker. Hope this helps Brandon btw- I can get warn and ramsey winches. If you want a price, let me know brandon@hippshobbies.com

I've got the MM12000 I like it, but it's slower than dirt. Paid $600 even shipped with a mounting plate.
Keep the mounting plate cost and shipping costs in mind when you are shopping online. Winches weight a ton and can cost almost as much to ship to your door. Warn is an excellent choice though, so I won't try and sway you away from that (especially cause they are a local business to Portland )-BN

In this order. Warn/Ramsey/Super Winch/Magnum/Mile Marker.
Personaly there is no electric winch in the world other than Warn, but if you gotta save money, I listed them in the order you should look at them. Warn does make magnum but that does not mean they are the typical high quality Warn product. All this is just FYI. Happy shopping ![]() |

I used to work for a AAA towing cars all day. We had Warn and Ramsey winches only. They both seemed to be just as good as one another, never had over heating issues, even on long recovery pulls on heavy vans and utility trucks. After having experieance with both Ramsey and Warn, I decided to get a Ramsey since it was nearly 100 bucks cheaper. I bough the cheapest model I could find, the REP8000e. Its not the best that Ramsey makes, but it was 400 bucks, can't complain. That model is no longer in production, but they do make a REP8.5e, which can also be found for 400 bucks. I've abused mine quite a bit and she keeps on tickin.

I've got a HS9500 which has now been replaced by the 9.5ti in the Warn lineup. I got my HS9500 for a smoking deal from PROC about 8 months ago but when it was my father's turn to get a winch he chose to get the new Superwinch EPi 9.0. It comes with a roller fair-lead, 125' of cable, and a snatch block for $556.00 plus shipping. It's fit and finish are excellent and on paper it's just as fast as the new Warn 9.5ti and draws less power at all stages of pulls. If I had to do it all over again I would seriosuly consider the Superwinch...

If you're worried about speed, warn is what it's all about. If you don't care about speed, won't be using it daily, or are looking at a 10.5K+, seriously look into milemarker. I have a MM E12000 and yes it is slow, but NO 12K winch is fast by any means. The MM pulls harder, faster, and draws fewer amps than the warn M12000 in all situations except no-load retrieval.
I have nothing but positives to say about it as it has always gotten me out of whatever I needed it to. Just be sure to put the solenoid pack in cab or at least really high, if they even thing they're going to get wet they won't work. Not a complaint, just a pointer. Justin

T-MAX
I see that we have some WARN fans here. Last year an Australian Company started importing winches by the name of T-MAX. You might want to check this site out for information on it. www.columbiariveroff-road.com |

Most of the MM hydro models have two speeds, you can use high speed for that type of use.
