winch...smittybilt xrc8 vs. Rugged Ridge

Ok...

I know most all will say WARN...

but since I got shafted by Cabela's on their recent m6000 winch I am back at square one...

I really need inexpensive...this is more of insurance.

I don't have boulders to climb, etc.

Having said that is there anyone here who has FIRST hand experience with either of these two?

400.00 is really all I can afford right now.

Be used for just in case recovery, maybe some work around the property.

Thanks!!

If your looking for low cost winch that performs check out the Recon 10500 winch. I have this winch and it has performed well when I have needed it.

Well I am upping my budget and pulling the trigger on this:

http://www.streetsideauto.com/p/warn...ecovery-26502/

M8000 for 539.95
coupon code : quick 55 (55.00 off 500.00 purchase)
free shipping
Warn has an 80.00 rebate...http://www.warn.com/truck/rebate.shtml

final price to my door like 404.95

and that is the M8000 not the VR series...

Just ordered mine too. Thanks for the heads up.

The coupon code was Quick55 (no space), I think.

How did this turn out? I went to their site today and got a price of $927.50. Was it a glitch that they caught? I tried everything.

Whats the difference in a warn winch and a vr series? Pull weight is pull weight?

From what I read, the line speed is a bit faster on the M8000. They also list the M8000 as having a 4.8 HP motor and list no HP on the VR.

Either way, I ordered the M8000 on the Northern Tool Site. They wanted $539 + 38 for shipping. After the $80 rebate I will still be below $500 which gives me the piece of mind knowing I have a time tested model of the Warn line.

I'll let you know tomorrow. According to FedEx, it is on the magic truck.

Now, can someone recommend a winch mounting plate?

I just checked the web site and the M8000 is still listed as $539.95 - $55.00 (Coupon) - $80.00 (rabate) = $404.95. Shipping is free.

You were probably looking at the 24v models.

Always nice to know I wasted a extra $50 bux. I will try and cancel, but am probably hosed. Impatience is a *****.

I saw a recent winch shoot-out and was very surprised to see the Harbor Freight winch end up to be one of three winches to make it to the end of the test (standing beside Warn and Superwinch).
