what's the best off-road map?

I'm looking for a trail guide/off-road map/book. Any suggestions? I have one that's pretty old, and the trails in it are really easy. Are there any books out there that have a variety of trails in them. I'm in the SoCal area.

Maps by Forest: http://www.fs.fed.us/maps/forest-maps.shtml California is Region 5 scroll down and pick your Forests, then get the quads for the areas you want.

Are those all scenic trails you can drive through and require the use of a 4wd vehicle? Or are they hiking/horseback trails?
