Warn M.O.S.F.E.T

Anyone running a Warn winch with Mosfet technology? Pros/Cons, please.

MOSFET technology, if not done shoddily/cheaply as some "famous" brands have done, gets rid of the electro-mechanic solenoids which in theory will greatly improve a winch's reliability. Milemarker is one company that has had problems with their Chinese-imported electric winches that used MOSFET technology. With Warn's reputation for doing things right the first time, as opposed to at least a few other winch manufacturers, I'd suspect a MOSFET equipped Warn winch would have the utmost reliability.

That said, the sealed solenoids in my 8 year-old Warn HS9500i winch have never given a single problem. But if something were to ever happen where I needed to buy a new winch, I'd go for a MOSFET equipped Warn winch in a heartbeat.

Your endorsement always settles whatever doubts I may have had about whatever I'll be doing to my Jeep next. I'll be purchasing the Warn 9.5ti with MOSFET. Thanks.

Is it better then the Warn 9.5ti Thermometric? Are they otherwise the same looks to me that the Thermometric is more water/weather resistant.

My old HS9500i is not well sealed yet it has been exposed to the elements for 7-8 years now without problem. It will work underwater too so while sealing is a good thing, it wouldn't be more important to me than going with MOSFETS which get rid of the most problem-prone area of any electric winch. The 9.5ti's red heat indicator wouldn't get my attention either, my winch has never overheated so it's really not much of an issue... at least for me.

I messed up when I said I'm going with a 9.5ti. I meant 9.5si which has MOSFET. The 9.5si also has thermometric feedback and is weather-sealed just like the 9.5ti. Best of both worlds, as I see it.

Mosfet failure!!!

I have a warn 9000 winch on and old CJ and have used it many times without problems. I have had a Warn Mosfet 9.5 on my new jeep for 2 years now and just used if for the first time last weekend. i winched my friends jeep straight out of a mudhole without a problem (maybe a distance of 20ft). Then when i was unspooling my winch to reorganize the cable it quit on me and has not worked since (there was no load on the winch). It either over heated or shorted out. Pisses me off and i am waiting to hear back from Warn. It was the only time i have ever really used it. I have never had a problem with the standard warn 9000.

Person I talked to at a local shop said people had problems with the 9.5si, they recommended 9.5ti. Warn did stand behind warranty but when contacted they knew exactly problem in question. I too wanted the si but decided on the cheaper ti, not worth the headache.
