Yes, they work. I have mine attached to a Weight Distribution hitch which is the best investment in a heavy trailer. It helps with side winds wipping the trailer around.

Most hitches are only rated at 500 lbs tongue weight without a WD hitch and then they go up a lot.

I also found a Curt brand at amazon for $44.00
Have Class III hatch and 3,000 max trailer,2 wheel
