Tomorrow I am getting a set of lights. The only problem is they are chrome or S.S.

I decided I am going to paint them, and the stock head light bezels black.

Any tips of pointers?

Just clean, prime, paint, clear?

Clean, scuff, prime, paint, clear not exactly necessary your choice. Ensure if they are Chrome you scuff the chrome, so the primer has something to attach to. SS should be rough enough unless it is polished SS if so it will have to be scuffed.

IMHO a couple of light coats of color is enough the clear would be a redundant layer and will be a hassle in the future.
