Well im taking my jeep to Silver Lake Sand Dunes, Michigan soon and I need a 12' flag. Im looking for something other than the typical orange ones...does anyone know where i can find some cool flags? Also, wheres a good place to mount a flag on a Cherokee..do i need mounting brackets and stuff?

This tells you everything you need to know. Basically says must be orange and 10 feet tall. I've asked one of the officers before and they also said it must be mounted on the front, though it doesn't say that in the rules on the link. When do you plan on going. We are shooting for April 1, but I'm in the process of buying a house so I don't know if I am going to make it yet.

I bought mine from the shop up there. They provide you with the correct brackets and everything, and they do have some selection as far as the color of the shaft the flag is mounted on. I think it cost me like $25 total.

As far as the Cherokee and a bracket is concerned......I have a 2002 Jepp Grand Cherokee and had to have one specially made. Luckily one of the guys at Appletree Automotive (across from Silver Lake entrance) had just fashioned himslef one. Luckily he heard me ask one of the guys at the counter. The guy at the counter looked at me and said.."Cant be done." This guy spoke up and saved me from a weekend of misery cuz the dune buggy was already broke.

ANYWAY...long story short.....the flag has to be orange and on the front of the vehicle and they sell them at Appletree Automotive and at DAR (DAvid Allen Racing) both located at the front entrnace of the park. You can actually park in the parking lot then walk out to the front and get your flags and whatever else you need.

Why do you need a flag to run the dunes?

It makes vehicles easier to see, especially when you are both climbing a hill on opposite sides heading towards each other.
